LOREA DE LA PEÑA ESCUDERO (1992)
Nací y vivo en Guadalajara, Jalisco. Soy artista multidisciplinaria, gestora cultural y directora de Ala Rota Cultura, un espacio independiente dedicado a la creación, el encuentro y la difusión artística.
Estudié Fotografía en la Escuela Activa de Fotografía y Redacción Creativa en Miami Ad School, donde también impartí clases de guionismo y storytelling. Trabajé cinco años en el ámbito publicitario en las áreas de redacción y creatividad en la Ciudad de México, experiencia que consolidó mi interés por la palabra, la imagen y la narración visual. Tengo una maestría en Creación de Proyectos y Organizaciones Artísticas y Culturales en la UNAM.
Mi acercamiento a las artes plásticas fue autodidacta y, desde hace siete años, mi práctica se ha centrado en la pintura, el grabado, la fotografía y la poesía. Mi lenguaje figurativo-expresionista se nutre de la literatura, la naturaleza y la observación del entorno. A través de humanoides, animales, bestiarios y paisajes, reflexiono sobre la justicia social y las formas de coexistencia entre lo humano y lo no humano, proponiendo imágenes que cuestionan la idea de progreso y recuperan la posibilidad de habitar desde el respeto, la reciprocidad y el cuidado.
He realizado residencias en Oaxaca, Baja California Sur y Veracruz. He tenido más de 5 exhibiciones individuales, la más reciente para Museos de Jalisco, URBAGROPUNK, en la Galería Juan Soriano. He participado en exposiciones individuales y colectivas en espacios institucionales e independientes del país.
Como gestora, colaboré con Casa Lunar (2019) y soy parte de Mácula Feria Gráfica, proyecto que fortalece la comunidad gráfica local y nacional, y Cuarta Silla, Festival de Arte Contempóraneo que busca unir y mostrar el arte y los espacios independientes. En 2025 fundé Ala Rota Cultura, dedicado a la búsqueda de la justicia social a través de la comunidad artística local y el intercambio de saberes colectivos.
I was born and currently live in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. I am a multidisciplinary artist, cultural manager, and director of Ala Rota Cultura, an independent space dedicated to artistic creation, community building, and cultural programming.
I studied Photography at Escuela Activa de Fotografía and Creative Copywriting at Miami Ad School, where I later taught screenwriting and storytelling. I worked for five years in advertising as a copywriter and creative in Mexico City, an experience that strengthened my interest in language, imagery, and visual narrative. I hold a Master's degree in the Creation of Artistic and Cultural Projects and Organizations from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
My approach to the visual arts has been largely self-taught. For the past seven years, my practice has focused on painting, printmaking, photography, and poetry. My figurative-expressionist language draws from literature, nature, and close observation of the world around me. Through humanoid figures, animals, bestiaries, and landscapes, I explore questions of social justice and the relationships between human and non-human forms of life, creating images that challenge conventional notions of progress while reclaiming the possibility of inhabiting the world through respect, reciprocity, and care.
I have completed artist residencies in Oaxaca, Baja California Sur, and Veracruz. I have presented more than five solo exhibitions, the most recent being URBAGROPUNK, organized by Museos de Jalisco at Galería Juan Soriano. I have also participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions at institutional and independent venues throughout Mexico.
As a cultural manager, I collaborated with Casa Lunar (2019) and am part of Mácula Feria Gráfica, a project dedicated to strengthening the local and national printmaking community, as well as Cuarta Silla, a contemporary art festival that brings together artists and independent art spaces. In 2025, I founded Ala Rota Cultura, an independent cultural space committed to advancing social justice through the local artistic community and the exchange of collective knowledge.
